By Resolution of the Council of Ministers of Belarus No. 125 dated February 14, 2017, the republican plan of measures for the Year of Science in 2017 has been approved. Relevant information is posted on the official website of the Belarusian government.

"The plan is a kind of 'roadmap' for the maximum involvement of the scientific sphere as the most important driving force of the country's socio-economic development in ensuring Belarus's competitiveness in the global market," the statement reads.

The plan is comprehensive and includes about 70 measures aimed at improving the regulatory, legal, and scientific-methodological support for science; highlighting the achievements of Belarusian science in the media; publishing activities of scientists; scientific and practical events (conferences, seminars, round tables, etc.), and so on.

Special attention is paid to supporting the creative activity of youth, identifying talented and gifted young scientists with leadership qualities, patriotic education of the younger generation of researchers, forming a personnel reserve, working with young specialists, and training highly qualified researchers.

The main emphasis is placed on organizing innovative activities in the field of science and international cooperation. The plan covers all aspects of interaction between science and society and economic sectors.

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has been designated as responsible for coordinating the work on the implementation of the republican plan.

Republican government bodies and other state organizations subordinate to the government, regional executive committees, and the Minsk City Executive Committee are instructed to submit information on the progress of the republican plan implementation to the National Academy of Sciences for the first half of the year by July 10, 2017, and for the year by January 10, 2018.

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is instructed to inform the Council of Ministers about the progress of the measures included in the republican plan by July 25, 2017, and January 25, 2018, respectively.
