President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has proposed that the governments of Belarus and Russia consider an economic plan based on self-reliance. He announced this at a meeting with President of Russia Vladimir Putin, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"Regarding the economy, I would like to ask you once again for our governments to consider some kind of economic plan. The essence is self-reliance. We will not bend to anyone. We have enough brains. We have more than enough resources. And we need to build a development plan for our Fatherland. As I say: two states, one Fatherland. And we can do it. But the main strength has always been here – in Russia. And if our governments develop such a plan, it will be good," said the head of state.
"And even if things are a little worse for us, people will understand and support us. Because they will see the light at the end of the tunnel," the Belarusian leader is confident.
Moreover, the countries have already begun to work in this direction, developing cooperation in areas such as microelectronics, space, and agriculture, among others. "And everywhere we see good progress. So, we need to consolidate this into a plan, appoint responsible individuals. And with this, we will strategically fulfill our task," said the President of Belarus.
