21 May, Braslav /Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. Belarusian routes, particularly in the Braslav district, are attractive for hosting stages of the Russian Open Rally Championships. This was stated at a press conference by the head of the "Slaviansky Kubok" international rally race, Chairman of the Russian Automobile Federation Rally Committee, Alexey Ershov, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"We have experience in holding races in other countries, and the track in Braslav was chosen primarily due to its convenient geographical location and quality characteristics," he noted. The Braslav district is easily accessible for racers from Moscow and St. Petersburg, and athletes from the Baltic countries.
The race director noted that the Belarusian organisers worked efficiently and well in preparing the races, although there were some minor issues. "It so happened that the RAF has more experience in organising such races, but we are ready to share our experience with our Belarusian colleagues, including learning together with them," said Alexey Ershov.
The "Slaviansky Kubok" rally is taking place in Braslav with the participation of 55 crews from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, and Lithuania. The race is included in the official calendar of the International Automobile Federation. An important feature of the rally is that the "Slaviansky Kubok" hosts an away stage of the Russian Open Rally Championship. The races will conclude on 22 May. -0-
